BTEC
The BTECs are delivered on a three year cycle across Year’s 9, 10 and 11 for learners on the Exams pathway. Students complete units in order to gain credits towards three different levels of the qualification and can achieve at a Pass, Merit or Distinction.
Parents and students are invited to a BTEC Options Information Evening, during which key information is discussed, as well as how the BTECs are structured and assessed. Course teachers then also explain about their specific qualifications and the skills and knowledge students develop as an outcome of the course. An ‘Options’ assembly also takes place for students where each course is presented to learners in a student friendly way.
At Cambridge we aim for all students to achieve the following qualifications in each of the BTECs they are entered for:
Year 1: BTEC Award
Year 2: BTEC Certificate
Year 3: BTEC Diploma

The BTEC courses we offer are ideal for our learners because:
1. They prepare students for the world of work and provide a good starting point for other qualifications such as NVQs that can be studied in the workplace.
2. Employers typically like the qualities that vocational students bring to the workplace e.g. organisation, time management, communication, and research skills.
3. They give students the opportunity to try different activities such as designing products, organising events, investigating how professionals work, and working in teams.
4. During the course students enjoy trips to industry related places of interest, and also have access to inspiring speakers working in course related roles.
Specific course information can be found in the Subject handbook, which can be downloaded here.
